“Teachers have detailed knowledge about what support pupils with SEND need. They use this to adapt learning when pupils need it.” – Ofsted, November 2024

As a fully inclusive college, our Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) team aims to assist all teaching staff to ensure students with special educational needs and disabilities are successfully and fully included and that they make progress in line with their ability.

We believe that students’ special educational needs can be best met in mainstream classes alongside their peers and that it is our duty to prepare them for a life outside of education. All young people have individual needs and an individual approach enhances learning in every classroom whilst also encouraging independence.

Our focus is to provide a high quality support service to our staff and students in order to assist in removing barriers to learning, enabling all students to become independent, responsible and successful learners whatever their abilities, skills and talents.

Devon’s Local Offer outlines what you can expect to be available for children and young people with SEND in Devon across education, health and social care services.
