ROC Dawlish is a local charity that engages with Dawlish’s young people and their families. ROC Dawlish has for several years worked alongside Dawlish College, running a number of programs that come under the ‘Moving Up!’ banner.

ROC Champions supports Year 7 students who may struggle with the transition to Dawlish College by pairing them with Year 9 students who have been handpicked and trained to ‘buddy’ them for the duration of year 7. Together they attend a variety of weekly gatherings that help the Year 7’s to grow in confidence and improve their social skills.

The Connection programme is currently run at the Hope Centre and includes two weekly sessions: Friends and Toddlers. Hope Connection: Friends involves four Year 9 students baking for a midweek church group, while Hope Connection: Toddlers sees two Year 9 students supporting the Centre’s weekly toddler group. Sessions are designed around the young people serving and selflessly giving back to their community.

ROC Solid provides students with one-to-one counselling style pastoral care. Children are referred onto the program and attend weekly sessions over the course of a term. These sessions aim to listen to their stories and empower them with encouragement and new ways of thinking.

This project compliments ROC Dawlish’s vision of supporting the Year 7 transition to Dawlish College, by offering a weekly and exclusive after school drop-in for Year 7 students in St Agatha’s Hall. This space encourages students to connect with each other and strengthen their relationships through food, games and fellowship.

‘Easter Is…?’ is an annual Easter experience hosted at the Hope Centre, where the Jerusalem Temple (our redesigned church auditorium) is brought to life with actors playing post-Easter characters. Pupils are immersed in the first-century Easter story, exploring the space and interviewing characters using specially designed booklets.
