On the 26th May 2023, the PE department are organising a whole school charity event for this years chosen college charity, ‘Jays Aim’.
A number of the college staff have already been involved in fundraising activities including, sky dives and the Plymouth Half Marathon. We would now like to give students the opportunity to also be involved.
Students will complete a 1 mile route around the school fields and astroturf in an allocated lesson during the college day. With the exception of year 10, who do not normally have PE on this day, this will take place during their timetabled PE lesson. Students are invited to complete the mile in any way that they wish, this might be jogging, walking, skipping, 3-legged walking, or even walking on their hands – the choice is theirs!
We have set up a whole college JustGiving page and are setting students the challenge of trying to fundraise £5. Donations can be made by friends and family by clicking on the link to the JustGiving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/jays-aim-dawlishcollegemile
The day will be a non-school uniform day, but students must wear something suitable for this challenge or bring PE kit to change into. If you would rather your child did not take part in the fundraising aspect of the event we ask that a £1 donation is made through ParentMail for the non-uniform aspect of the day: (payment>shop>item>basket>checkout.)
A cake bake sale will also be held under the canopy with all proceeds going to Jay’s Aim. Donations for cakes can be given in collection pots or via a card reader. If parents/carers would like to support the cake bake sale, we would be very grateful. We ask that donations are given to Student Office on the Thursday before the event.
We hope this will be a fun event, to finish the end of the half term and to support our chosen charity. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions regarding the day.
